Turning a New Leaf

It’s been a long time, well a long time in blogger-time, since i’ve posted on this blog. I took a permanent leave from social media in July 2020, and haven’t blogged since before that. I don’t miss Instagram one tiny bit, but I do miss blogging. That is one reason I’ve decided to bring this ole site back from the grave. Another reason, my husband and I are starting a new journey. We are working on our plans to full time RV, and it’s something I want to document and share, if only to help and inspire others. I don’t plan to have Instagram again, but I do plan to share RVing stuff here. Trust me, I already have the RV makeover planned to a T, so that will surely make it here. As people, we grow and evolve. My Eclectic Grace means so much to me; my life is eclectic and crazy and unique. I have a lot to share, and just because i’m not showing up daily on your IG stories doesn’t mean I have to stop sharing content that can live on, and truly help someone. This is my growth and evolution. I will be blogging yet again, so if you want to subscribe to be notified when knew posts are live, please do! I’ll try to be consistent, but let’s be real…I have never been a consistent blogger! Happy to be back! xx

DIY Stair Runner

I took my ugly carpeted steps and turned them into smooth wood steps with a sisal runner of my dreams cascading down…and it was a lot of blood, sweat and tears. Quite literally. If you have carpet and want to rip it up, I say just go for it. The worse that can happen if you have to tack it back down if the floor sucks underneath. Luckily when I started pulling the carpet off my steps (and it didn’t resist at all. yay old carpet) the treads underneath were a beautiful pine that was in great condition. I guess the layers of thick carpet and padding kept them nice all those 30 years they were covered. Step one – remove the nastiest of carpet from the steps… It took me and my fiance about 12 hours total to rip all the carpet off our 13 steps, pull the tack strips up and painstakingly pull out hundreds..possibly thousands of staples. The wood was still in good condition after that, miraculously. Please don’t be fooled thinking that redoing your stairs is a one day project. This took weeks, and we worked really fast! If you did have a ton of holes from nails and staples, you can use wood puty and sand over it. I am notoriously lazy and like to cut corners with home improvement, so I didn’t do this. I also knew the carpet runner would cover most of it, so why do extra steps? Sand + Poly Next […]

34 Things To Do With Extra Time

Due to the elephant in the room…I’m looking at you COVID-19, a lot of us have extra time on our hands. I don’t want to brush this whole situation under the rug, because it’s horrific and I’m anxiety-ridden most hours of the day..but I’m also a “cry for 3 days and then look at the glass half full” type of gal. I got my freakout out of the way and now I’m ready to combat the stir craziness with productivity and even try to have fun. If you’re a homebody like me, maybe you already do these activities on a regular basis..but I know we are all looking to A) do something that keeps our minds off things B) stay healthy and active and C) support our communities in this crazy time. I tried to formulate this list to hit all of those! Here are my suggestions, along with many suggestions from my lovely Instagram community! Thank you! Home: You’re stuck at home, so maybe it’s time to tackle those annoying but important home projects! Clean out your cabinets. I’m talking kitchen cabinets, bathrooms, mudrooms. Take this opportunity to sort through it all, clean the cabinets inside and out and reorganize. I did this and found a coveted bottle of hand sanitizer in the back of my bathroom cabinet. #blessed. Spring clean! It may not be Spring yet, but why not get a jump start? Clean your house and sanitize while you’re at it. Throw out old stuff, and donate […]

Christmas Guide: Gifts for the person who has it all

what to buy for the person who has everything

Christmas is just around the corner, and it truly is my favorite time of year! There are bloggers and websites everywhere telling you all the best things to buy for your mom, brother, sister, husband, neighbor, dog..etc. If you can buy a gift, someone is suggesting what you buy. I am not one of those people…I don’t have a list of suggested gifts to buy anyone because I think gifts are personal and one size does not fit all. I’ll cut to the chase; I am not a gift person, I don’t like getting gifts and shopping for them stresses me out. However, it is the season of giving, and there are always people on your list that have everything. If they want it, they could buy it themselves, so it’s like..why even bother? Do you feel me? I’m no Grinch though, I do think the people you love should receive something, but not in the form of a material item. What to get those who have everything, want nothing, or simply for the minimalists in your life: One word…experiences. There are so many ways you could give people in your life the gift of experiences, and I promise, they will enjoy that gift above all. Let me elaborate! Give your time: This day in age, everyone is busy. Busy working, shuffling kids around, busy doing chores, running errands..scheduling down to the very second. Carving away time for someone is a true gift. I would give anything for just a […]

Decorating on a budget 101

Decorating on a budget is quite popular these days, especially with thrifting and vintage decor becoming more and more trendy. I started decorating on a budget out of necessity as a broke college student, but now as a homeowner in my mid 20’s I still decorate on a shoe string budget! Maybe you’ve followed my blog or are just reading this for the first time. Maybe you’ve seen all my thrifty hacks and ideas come to life through my Instagram. Either way, if you want the 101 on the basics of decorating on a budget, I’m going to lay it out for you! My favorite part about decorating on a budget is flexing those creative muscles – it can be so fun and rewarding. Spending just a little money on changing the basics can go a long way. Such as window treatments, pillows, lighting and decor. Obviously doing as much DIY as you can keeps the costs down. Keeping your eyes peeled for deals, sales and furniture you can refinish is essential when decorating on a small budget! Best advice – enjoy the journey and slow down..you may end up with something you truly don’t like if you rush through. The Basics. Ask yourself..does your stuff look defeated? Frayed? Faded? If you answered yes, then it is TIME to give them new life or find new items all together! Start with decluttering + cleaning. I can’t tell you how many times I just removed all the clutter from my surfaces, […]
